The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Sport For All Commission, will organize the Olympic Day celebration on Saturday, June 28, 2025, across various states in the country.

This annual global event commemorates the birth of the modern Olympic Movement, founded by Pierre de Coubertin in the 1894.

In a statement by the NOC Public Relations Officer, Tony Nezianya on Thursday, he noted that the celebration aims to highlight the benefits of physical activity and promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.

“Engaging in exercises like jogging and walking can burn calories, tone muscles, and contribute to overall health and stress reduction. The NOC has received positive responses from various states, with many already preparing to organize activities for the event.

“In Lagos, where the NOC head office is located, a series of physical fitness and recreational activities will be held, including aerobic exercises, jogging, and demonstration events.

“These activities will showcase various sports and provide an opportunity for individuals to experience the essence of the Olympic Games,” the statement reads.

Persecondnews reports that the celebration will be concluded with the presentation of diplomas signed by the President of the International Olympic Committee.

Dr. Abdul Ibrahim, Chairman of the NOC Sport For All Commission, appeals to state governments through sports councils and commissions to participate in this mass-oriented fitness program [4].

The NOC encourages corporate and philanthropic individuals to support the celebration through financial contributions or product donations, which will provide valuable exposure for their organizations.
