Nollywood veteran Kanayo O. Kanayo has cautioned religious leaders against actions that ridicule Christianity, urging worshippers to be careful about the voices they listen to and the people they follow in the name of religion.

The actor, in a video shared on his Instagram page, expressed concern over the conduct of some individuals parading themselves as men of God, warning Christians against being misled by religious leaders whose teachings may not reflect genuine spirituality.

“The body of Christ is being ridiculed by many who parade themselves as MEN OF GOD,” Kanayo said in the message accompanying the video.

He appealed to Christians to exercise caution in choosing religious leaders and deciding whose teachings to accept, stressing the importance of discernment in matters of faith.

“PLEASE MY DEAR FRIENDS, MIND WHOSE VOICE YOU LISTEN TO,” he said, addressing his audience in a direct appeal to believers.

The actor further encouraged believers to look beyond religious labels and pay greater attention to the spiritual substance of the messages being preached to them.

“Stop being tossed about by RELIGION. BE MORE SPIRITUAL. IT WILL HELP,” he said, urging Christians to develop a deeper understanding of their faith rather than being carried away by religious activities alone.

Kanayo also warned against listening indiscriminately to people who use the name of God, suggesting that Christians should be more discerning about the individuals they trust for spiritual guidance.

“Stop listening to people who are trading in the name of God,” he said, cautioning against the use of religion in ways that could mislead believers.

He further challenged religious figures whose messages, in his view, lacked substance beyond their immediate environment, urging his audience to consider the quality and relevance of what they were being taught.

“Stop listening to those who have no message to preach outside Nigeria,” the actor said in the message.

Rather than allowing themselves to be influenced solely by the status or public presentation of religious figures, his message urged Christians to consider the credibility of those they follow.
