Former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, his former deputy, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Oluboyo, barring unforeseen developments, would make their return to the Labour Party (LP) final on June 14, 2018.

Well reformed individuals close to Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, revealed the plans for a grand exit  have been finalized for the exit of the iconic politician and some of his associates, from the Peoples Democratic Party (P.D.P), according to sharpedgenews.com.

The decision to return to the Labour Party is not popular, however with every member of the Mimiko political family.

Many of his well known followers have declared that they would not return to LP with him.

It is believed that former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, who was the governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party in 2016, would not be returning with Dr. Mimiko. The two only met and exchanged pleasantries after the unsubstantiated allegations of betrayal and tacit assistance to the then opposition candidate, Mr. rotimi Akeredolu. According to sources Jegede and Mimiko met at the funeral of the Late Iyalaje-General, Chief (Mrs) Ogunsusi, at St. Thomas’s Anglican Church, Isinkan, last Friday. Mr. Jegede not known for intrigues and subterfuge unlike his erst while benefactor, Mimiko, has confided in friends and families that he held no animosity against his former boss. But that he would stay within P.D.P and may likely work for the ambition of a long time friend from the north who has already declared to contest the presidency in 2019.

Another friend of Mimiko that may not return with him to the LP is former Attorney-General, Mr. Remi Olatubora. Mimiko never gave a convincing argument to many of his acolytes before   moving to P.D.P in 2015. Other commited friends of Mimiko that may not join him include Chief Clement Faboyede, and Tola Wewe. Dr Kola Ademujimi and Mr. Kayode Akinmade would find it extremely hard to convince supporters in Idanre to endorse the latest move. The most turning rebuff is coming from Mimiko’s Godson, Dayo Aode from Akure North Local Government. Aode is staying within P.D.P to run for the House of Representative the only serious contender at the moment. Some other associates of the former Governor, called Iroko said the man may still surprise all. Although he looks be leagued in this latest political adventure, his motive does not appear to be clear to most political observers.

Another close associate of Mimiko, preferring anonymity, said the former Ondo State Governor is always looking for deals and that this new foray may be to gain another such advantage.
