The federal high court in Calabar, Cross River state on Thursday granted bail to Journalist and activist Agba Jalingo, after spending over 150 days in detention.
Justice Sule Shuaibu granted the bail after Cross Rivers State Government reverted to the initial; charges of terrorism and conspiracy to remove elected governor from office.
The court’s decision to grant bail to Agba Jalingo provides Nigerian authorities and Cross River state government of governor Ben Ayade a golden opportunity to do the right thing: drop these bogus charges and allow all journalists in Nigeria to operate safely and freely, said rights group SERAP.
