President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned in strong terms the recent killings in Plateau and Kaduna states, describing the attacks as barbaric and a direct assault on the values of the nation.

The President specifically denounced the attack in Angwan Rukuba district of Jos, Plateau State, as well as the killing and abduction of wedding guests in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the perpetrators as “heartless cowards” who operate under the cover of darkness to attack defenceless citizens.

He warned that such attacks, particularly on soft targets, were aimed at provoking reprisals and escalating violence, stressing that the government would not allow such a breakdown of law and order.

The President directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down and apprehend those responsible, as well as individuals spreading misinformation capable of inflaming tensions. He also cautioned against premature conclusions suggesting religious motivations behind the attacks.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, Tinubu urged communities to cooperate with security directives, including evacuation and relocation measures where necessary.

He further called on security agencies to be more proactive by acting on intelligence to prevent future incidents, while demanding the immediate rescue of remaining abductees from the Kaduna attack. He, however, welcomed the safe return of two victims.

The President commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their efforts in managing the crises and supporting rescue operations.
Tinubu also assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is acquiring advanced equipment to enable security agencies track and eliminate criminal elements in real time.

He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery, reiterating his administration’s resolve to bring all perpetrators to justice.
