In renewed wave of banditry in Zamfara, two female students of federal varsity in Gusau abducted

In a renewed offensive, armed bandits have swooped on the female hostel of the Federal University Gusau, in Zamfara State, abducting two female students.

The two students, Persecondnews gathered, were abducted at Sabon Gida in Bungudu council area in the wee-hours of Sunday.

The terrorists overpowered and locked up the two civilian guards at the hostel, dispossessed them of their phones before abducting the two female students of the Microbiology Department of the university.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the students.

It said “search and rescue operations” are ongoing.

Police Commissioner Kolo Yusuf reassured the general public, especially the families of the kidnapped students and the management of the university that “efforts are ongoing to rescue the two students”.

He appealed for support from members of the public to enable the Police to succeed in the rescue mission.

“Information received by the Command indicated that On 2nd April 2023 at about 0100am, Armed bandits stormed Sabon gida village in Bungudu LGA and broke into a rented female hostel of the university where they locked up the two (2) civilian guards and dispossessed them of their handsets and later abducted two (2) female student of Microbiology Department of the university”.

“On receipt of the report, the Police Tactical team moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had already fled with the victims to an unknown destination,”

SP Mohammed Shehu, the police spokesman said.
