Manchester United secured a much-needed 3-0 win at Southampton to alleviate the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

The victory comes after back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Liverpool and marks a crucial turning point for the team.

Andre Onana’s penalty save, which stopped Cameron Archer’s attempt from the spot, ignited United’s victory.

Moments later, Matthijs de Ligt headed home from Bruno Fernandes’ cross to give United the lead. Marcus Rashford then scored his first goal since March, doubling the lead with a dipping shot inside Aaron Ramsdale’s post.

Southampton offered little resistance in the second half, failing to register another shot on goal after Archer’s penalty miss.

Captain Jack Stephens’ dismissal for a reckless lunge on Alejandro Garnacho further hindered the hosts’ chances.

Garnacho added a third goal in stoppage time to seal the win for United.

Ten Hag praised his team’s performance, stating, “We have to win every game. Sometimes you have to find a way to win. In the first minutes of the game, we had some problems, until the save from Andre and the goal from De Ligt. The game was all ours after that.”

Onana credited his penalty save as a turning point, saying, “It was very good to save that one. It was an important moment for us, a key situation. After that penalty, we took control.”

The win marks a vital three points for United, who look to build momentum under Ten Hag’s leadership.
