The Police have faulted the claim of Amira Safiyanu that she was kidnapped in Abuja by some “unknown police officers”.
The Force headquarters, in a statement, denied involvement of its officers in the alleged abduction for a ransom.
Amira Safiyanu, who claimed to have been “kidnapped” along with 17 others by some policemen at gunpoint on 14th June, 2022, has been found, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said.
In a three-paragraph statement, the police said she has been detained to give more insight into how she was “abducted”.
Persecondnews reports that Safiyan had on the June 14, 2022 through her verified twitter handle, claimed to have been abducted with 17 others by unknown gunmen wearing police uniform.
In dismissing her claim, the police said:
“Amira Safiyanu who claimed to have been kidnapped along with 17 others by some policemen at gun point on 14th June, 2022, has been found.
“We have some suspicions about her claims as much as we debunk the kidnap of 17 others.
“We have some findings to make in order to get a clearer picture of the whole scenario and take proper decision as and at when due.
“We will keep the general public abreast of our findings as soon as possible.”
