A former governor of Imo and Senator representing Imo West, Rochas Okorocha, has alleged that the state governor, Hope Uzodimma, is behind the N2.9 billion fraud charge filed against him by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Okorocha disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, on Tuesday, through his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo.
According to the Senator, Uzodimma’s media handlers were the first to break the story of a case in EFCC.
The former governor added that he was surprised Uzodimma’s media acted as the Public Relations Officer of the EFCC, after waiting for him to declare his 2023 presidential ambition.
He said he had not been invited by the EFCC yet.
Persecondnews had earlier reported that less than 12 hours after officially declared interest to contest the 2023 presidential poll, EFCC slammed a N2.9 billion fraud charge against Rochas Okorocha.
He was accused of conspiring with an APC politician and five other companies to steal N2.9 billion from the coffers of the state.
The presidential aspirant will be charged to court on a 17-count charge alongside the other defendants — Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
