The Lekki Deep Seaport will be delivered on schedule as construction work has reached about 80 percent. The project, according to the promoters, will enable port operation in the next few months in that area of Lagos.

Situated about 65 km east of Lagos metropolis, the Lekki Port occupies over 90 hectares in the heart of the Lagos Free Zone.

The access expressways to the port include old Ibeju-Lekki Road, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikorodu Road, Ikorodu-Itoikin-Ijebu-Ode Road, Itoikin-Epe Road, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

In addition to the existing road networks, a number of new roads and bridges are ongoing to further connect the Lekki Port with the hinterlands.

A progress report by the Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Ltd which disclosed this, said the coming on stream of the port would revolutionize port operations in the country.

It said dredging and reclamation works have reached 89.93 percent, expressing satisfaction with the support of  stakeholders.

“Quay wall is now 85.65 percent completed. The Breakwater is now 79.66 percent completed.

“For landside infrastructure, works done is now 67.82 percent completed, bringing total works carried out on the project as at Thursday, 6th of January 2022 to 79.68 percent completion stage,” the report also stated.

Persecondnews.com recalls that the Gov. Dapo Abiodun-led Ogun Government had in 2020 commenced the construction of the Epe-Ijebu-Ode expressway under the public-private-project initiative.

The project is also nearing completion.
