[dropcap]L[/dropcap]aw enforcement officials Tuesday deployed tear gas against dozens of protesters demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari resumes or resigns if incapable of continuing his duties as president.

The protesters were having their sit-out at the Millennium park opposite the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja when the armed policemen fired tear gas canisters to disperse the unarmed group.

Buhari has been dogged by speculation about his health since June last year when he first went to London for treatment of what the presidency said was a persistent ear infection.

He then spent nearly two months in London in January and February and said on his return in early March that he had “never been so ill”.
