Adeleke: Aregbesola an ‘ungrateful traitor’

361

The younger brother of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who has now emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the July 8 Osun West Senatorial District by-election, Ademola Adeleke, called Osun state Governor Rauf Aregbesola an ungrateful traitor.

“My brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, and I campaigned vigorously for Aregbesola during 2014 governorship election. My brother defected from the PDP to the APC and I defected to APC too, because we were always together. We campaigned so hard, we went everywhere and worked so hard for Aregbesola. Aregbesola was already losing before my brother joined him. My brother went to APC with all his people, all his political structures and worked so hard as if he was the one contesting the governorship election. I did the same and all his supporters worked for Aregbesola.”

Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke

“When our brother died, we took his corpse to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for autopsy which is owned by the Osun State Government. Aregbesola did not allow us to have the result so that we can check for a second opinion elsewhere. His behaviour was so terrible to us. He did not call us when my brother died. He did not do anything. Somebody, who worked so hard for him and he treated him and his family like that. How can he do that to a family that helped him to win the governorship poll? We spent money and worked so hard to ensure his victory during his re-election. Everybody can see how he repaid us. I was the face of Aregbsola’s campaign. I danced everywhere and without me, his campaign was not complete. Is this how he will pay us back? He wants to play us out but we are smarter than him. I moved to the PDP and all the aspirants stepped down for me and by the special grace of God, I am going to win.”

“I don’t think Aregbesola is a true Muslim. I think he is practising something else – but definitely not Islam. Islam does not encourage that type of behaviour. He is not a true Muslim at all. The fact that Senator Isiaka Adeleke, my brother, died should make the governor to say, ‘Okay, we give this thing to Ede to produce someone to replace him.’ He did not do that. Rather than allow the exercise to go without interference, he was manipulating everything to put his boy there.”

“People have already started leaving the APC and we will defeat them. Aregbesola will be disgraced because I know I am contesting against him and not Senator Hussain. Hussain is from Ejigbo. The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly is from Ejigbo. There is a member of the Federal House of Representatives from Ejigbo. That should not be. That is wickedness and the governor is the one behind this wickedness. If a governor is God-fearing, he won’t allow such.”

“I know that Aregbesola will want to rig (the election). We will monitor them to make sure that they are not allowed to rig this election. (It’s going to be) one man, one vote. We will watch them and make sure that we disallow them from manipulating the choice of the people.”
