The Democratic Republic of Congo is the first nation to arrive in Nigeria for the highly anticipated 3rd African U18/U20 Athletics Championships.
The Congolese team received a warm welcome at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Saturday.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) protocol team, led by Arabirin Aderonke, ensured a smooth and friendly reception for the visiting athletes.
The athletes were greeted with smiles and Nigerian hospitality, and quickly guided through the arrival procedures.
“We are excited to receive the first set of athletes arriving for the championship,” said Aderonke.
“This marks the beginning of what promises to be a historic and memorable competition.
“Our protocol teams are fully mobilized at the airports to ensure a smooth experience for all arriving delegations,” Aderonke added.

Persecondnews reports that the championships will feature elite young athletes from over 40 African countries competing for continental glory.
The championships will take place at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, from July 16 to July 20.
With just four days to go, the competition is expected to be intense and thrilling, showcasing the best of African athletics talent.
Meanwhile, the National Sports Commission has demanded excellence from every subcommittee in the LOC as the committee is committed to delivering a successful event.
