Ramadan begins Monday, March 11, Sultan says

The observation of a new moon for Ramadan 1445 AH (2024) has been confirmed by Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA)

“The Sultanate has confirmed a single sighting claim,” the sultanate stated in an update posted on its X handle, @moonsightingng

Consequently, the Sultan said that fasting would start on Monday, March 12 in a broadcast on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) at 8:39 p.m. on Sunday.
