What you should know about the Acting EFCC Chair, Abdulkarim Chukkol

Following the indefinite suspension of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), AbdulRasheed Bawa, the commission’s Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, is now at the helm.

Persecondnews had reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday suspended Bawa “to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.”

Bawa’s suspension is coming barely six days after the suspension of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and his subsequent arrest by the Department of State Security Service (DSS).

“This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office leveled against him.

“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement obtained by Persecondnews and signed by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information, said.

Persecondnews reports that the EFCC Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, has in the past, represented the suspended Chairman at a number of functions.
Here are few things you should know about Chukkol:
He is an Investigator/ Detective at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
He graduated from the University of Maiduguri in the year 2000.
He attended the FBI National Academy, Quantico.
He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Criminal Justice Education, from University of Virginia.
He also has a Diploma in Cybersecurity and Spectrum Monitoring, from the United States Telecommunications Training Institute.
He earns a certificate in Criminal Justice Education, from the Canadian Police College
His focused drive to his investigations yielded him partnerships with leading agencies like the Serious Organised Crimes Agency of the United Kingdom, Queensland Police of Australia, the Federal Bureau of Investigations of the US and the Office of Inspector General of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
