The hitherto peaceful transition of power from outgoing Anambra Gov. Willie Obiano to the new governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, was on Thursday morning disrupted by Obiano’s wife.
Obiano’s wife, Ebelechukwu, had reportedly slapped Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of lgbo leader, Chief Chuwkuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu at the solemn occasion held in Akwa, the state capital.
Persecondnews.com learnt that as a result of the unruliness and disgraceful conduct of the outgoing first lady, her husband, Obiano and herself hurriedly left the venue of the swearing-in ceremony held at a hall.
Security agents had a hectic time trying to restore peace to the arena with few, selected attendees.
“As soon as Soludo was sworn in, Ebelechukwu, walked up to Bianca, wondering why she was there, and gave her a dirty slap.
“The duo started fighting as Ojukwu’s widow replied the strikes,” an attendee of the event said.
In the fighting milieu, some guests made hurried exits while the momentary commotion lasted.
Normalcy was, however, restored and the occasion concluded without a reaction from the newly-inaugurated Gov. Soludo, the 6th Anambra helmsman and Chief Executive.
Obiano of APGA completed two terms of eight years, taking over from Mr Peter Obi, who defected to PDP about six years ago.
Persecondnews recalls that during Soludo’s gubernatorial campaign launch in 2021 Ojukwu’s widow had stayed away from the event and received bashing from some party chieftains including Obiano’s wife.
Ojukwu had founded the Southeast regional party which has lost its hold in all the states in the zone except Anambra.
