Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), Ondo State former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, has emerged the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the October 10 governorship poll.
He polled 888 votes to beat his closest co-contestant, the State Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi, who defected to the party from APC in June, who got 657 votes.
The Chairman of the Primary Election Committee and Enugu Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, announced the results of the primary in which a total of 2,111 delegates participated.
Persecondnews recalls that in 2016, Jegede as the PDP candidate, contested against Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who also got APC’s ticket on Monday.
Other aspirants are National Vice-Chairman PDP South West, Dr Eddy Olafeso (175 votes), Ayorinde Olabode (95), ex-Ondo PDP spokesman, Banji Okunomo (90), Senator Kunlere Boluwaji (33), Ebiseni Sola (29) and Godday Erewa (14).
