Manchester City tromp Salford City 8-0 in FA Cup Third Round

364

Manchester City has delivered a devastating 8-0 thrashing to Salford City in the third round of the FA Cup.

The match, played at the Peninsula Stadium, saw City’s young players shine, with James McAtee scoring a hat-trick and Jeremy Doku contributing two goals and two assists.

McAtee, a Salford-born youngster, showed no mercy against his hometown club, netting three goals in the second half.

Doku, meanwhile, was instrumental in City’s dominant performance, scoring twice and setting up two more goals.

Jack Grealish also found the back of the net, scoring his first City goal in 13 months from the penalty spot.

City’s victory was a masterclass in attacking football, with the team needing just 10 shots on target to score their eight goals.

Salford City, owned by Manchester United’s Class of ’92 legends, including Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and Nicky Butt, were unable to cope with City’s relentless pressure.

The match was also notable for the absence of Gary Neville, who was on a skiing holiday.

His fellow Class of ’92 members, Scholes and Butt, were present in the directors’ box, but even they couldn’t help their team avoid the embarrassing defeat.

City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, was pleased with his team’s performance, praising McAtee’s movement and Doku’s skill.

The victory was a much-needed boost for City, who have been struggling in recent weeks.
