FG declares Dec. 25, 26, Jan. 1 public holidays

The Federal Government has announced public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.

According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani on Monday, Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, have been declared public holidays.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended greetings to Nigerians, urging citizens to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity during the festive season.

He harped on kindness, goodwill, and strengthening familial and community bonds during and after the festivities.

Tunji-Ojo reassured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation.

“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he said.

He expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would drive the country toward a more prosperous 2025.
