Biden in 30-minute phone call with Tinubu, hails Binance executive release

President Bola Tinubu and US President Joe Biden held a 30-minute phone call on Tuesday with the release of the Binance executive who was prosecuted for alleged money laundering charge featuring.

The strengthening of Nigeria-US relations also featured in their conversation.

Biden expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s partnership, particularly in law enforcement and counter-terrorism efforts, as well as the release of the Binance executive.

Tinubu thanked the U.S. for collaboration in various areas and emphasized cooperation on African security, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to the partnership.

He highlighted Africa’s crucial role in the world’s future, stressing the importance of continued collaboration.

The leaders discussed a permanent UN Security Council seat for Africa, with Biden promising US support for two seats, one potentially for Nigeria, given its stature and influence.

Their conversation also touched on Nigeria’s law-abiding status, guided by the rule of law, and similarities between Nigeria’s and the US’s systems of government.

The call concluded with warm exchanges, acknowledging President Biden’s impending departure and mutual interest in maintaining ties.
