A senior lecturer at the University of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole, has been killed in cold blood.
According to report, some yet-to-be-apprehended gunmen shot and killed Ajewole on Monday night in the ancient city while returning home.
The motive for killing Ajewole, a Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry, was not immediately known but Persecondnews gathered that it might a case of violent robbery as his car was taken away.
A lecturer in the institution, who did not want to be identified, confirmed that Ajewole was killed while driving home.
“It is true,he was killed last night while returning home.They shot him and took his car away,” he said.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the Oyo State Police Command’s spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, a superintendent, said: “The matter is under investigation. Updates would be provided accordingly.”
