Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party on Friday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa, commending him for deepening the nation’s democracy by his avowed commitment to free and fair elections.

It is his first official visit to the President after inauguration as governor in November 2022.

Feilding questions from State House correspondent after meeting with the President, Adeleke also lauded him for signing the 2022 Electoral Bill.

Persecondnews recalls that Adeleke had defeated the immediate past governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polling 403,371 votes as against Oyetola’s 375,027 votes in the July 16, 2022 governorship poll.

Adeleke had first on September 22, 2018 contested the state governorship election against top contenders — Gboyega Oyetola of APC and Iyiola Omisore of SDP, was declared “inconclusive” by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and a rerun was held on September 27, 2018.

The results were too close to call but INEC declared Oyetola winner.
