Sen. Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was on Sunday sworn in as the fifth elected Governor of Osun State.
Also, the Deputy Governor, Mr Kola Adewusi, took oath of office and oath of allegiance administered on them by the State Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, at a well attended event held at the main bowl of Osogbo City Stadium.
Persecondnews recalls that Adeleke, who was running neck-to-neck in a poll declared as inconclusive by INEC in 2018, succeeds Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The past civilian governors are Chief Bisi Akande (1999-2003), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola (2007-2010), and Mr Rauf Aregbesola (2010-2018).
The event was attended by a galaxy of very important personalities including the Presidential Candidate and the Running Mate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa, Atiku’s wife, Titilayo, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Other were Edo Gov. Godwin Obaseki and Akwa Ibom Gov. Emmanuel Udom, Sokoto Gov. Aminu Tambuwal Gov. Duoye Diri of Bayelsa and ex- Ekiti Gov. Ayo Fayose, and former Oyo Gov. Rashidi Ladoja.
