A staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) attached to the Kaduna International Airport has been shot dead by suspected bandits.
The victim, Shehu Na’Allah, was shot dead while patrolling the runway area of the airport.
According to reports, the bandits invaded the airport through the perimeter fence from a nearby forest at 1p.m on Saturday and started shooting sporadically to scare airport workers.
Persecondnews gathered that the hail of bullets attracted the attention of armed security operatives who arrived at the scene and were able to repel the bandits from gaining access to the main airport complex.
The attack was also reported to have delayed a Lagos-bound AZMAN aircraft from taking off from the Kaduna airport, as the flight scheduled for 12.30 pm could not take off due to the presence of the bandits.
Meanwhile, armed Nigerian Airforce and other military personnel have taken over the innards and outer areas of the airport.
