Breaking: Policewoman assaulted, beaten black and blue in Lagos by businessman

2.2k

A policewoman, who is in her forties, has been beaten black and blue by a businessman in the Okota area of Lagos in the line of duty.

Persecondnews learnt that the businessman, whose name was given as Okechukwu Okeke, had pounced on the policewoman at his Green Field Estate residence on Tuesday when she went to the house to invite him to the police station at Okota.

The incident happened at 7a Abba street, Greenfield Estate, Ago Palace, Okota, Lagos.

The station, it was gathered, had sent her to invite the powerful, rich man in respect of a reported case or petition against him.

The police officer, whose rank could not be ascertained at press time, had gone to the man with the letter of complaint or petition as a basis for the invitation.

“On getting there, the businessman, who was in the company of some friends, started assaulting her, gave her the beating of her life and injured her in the process knowing full well that she is a serving police officer on an official errand.

“The man, after beating her, pushed her into a waiting tricycle (Keke Napep) and continued the assault. He pressed her to the floor of the three-wheeler, trying to strangle her.

“The woman must have gone through excruciating pains as a result of the beating and must have been taken to the hospital for treatment,’’ a credible source told Persecondews.

“I saw a deep cut on her left arm, bruises and cuts on parts of her body; this is a serious assault against the law, the police force and the Inspector-General of Police,” the source also said.

The nature of the offence or complaint made against Okechuckwu Okeke could not be ascertained yet, but Persecondnews leanrt that it was a strong petition about a wrong doing involving him for which has refused police invitation to come and make a statement.

Realizing the enormity of his crime of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest or invitation, Okechuckwu, it was further learnt had been contacting the high and mighty in the police force to settle the matter and sweep it under the carpet.

However, efforts to speak with the assaulter or aggressor, Okechuckwu, were unsuccessful as he declined calls on his line – 0906509…..8.

The Divisional Police Officer for Okota could not also be reached while frantic efforts are in progress to speak with the spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Adekunle Ajisebutu.
