Amid controversial accounts of where the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested and extradited, the United Kingdom says it did not extradite the fugitive.
According to the British High Commission in Nigeria, Kanu, was not arrested in the UK.
“We are aware of reports that Nnamdi Kanu has been detained in Nigeria by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“We can confirm that Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes,”the spokesman for the British High Commission in Nigeria, Dean Hurlock, said.
Persecondnews had reported that on Tuesday the Attorney-General of the Federation and Justice Minister, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN) announced that Kanu had been brought back to Nigeria.
He, however, did not state how and where the IPOB leader was arrested.
Meanwhile, Kanu who was arraigned before a Federal High Court on Tuesday has been remanded in the custody of the Department of State Service.
