[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Nigeria Senate and the Buhari administration are once again on a collision course over the rejection of nomination of Mr Ibrahim Magu as Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as Senators begin to mark up their next line of action.

Senate’s rejection of Ibrahim Magu “still stands“ said Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Sabi Abdullah on Friday.

Senate has already made its resolution, and our resolutions are official statements. “And most times, based on how we communicate, we don’t go to press immediately because somebody has made a statement; we usually discuss issues. “You know before we made that resolution the issue was debated. It is not because the executive has said something, we will react to it. We discuss issues first.

“He was brought to us for confirmation, and on the basis of damning reports from the DSS, we rejected him twice. It is left for Nigerians to see and we have done our part,” he said

We are expressing the opinion of the Senate, its stand and its position. “We have given it a resolution. For now that is what subsists, and until we get a response, otherwise officially, we are not going back.”

A defiant Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, tired of Senate stalling the confirmation of Magu on Thursday revealed that President Buhari has resolved to work with the acting EFCC Chairman to stamp out endemic corruption in the country.

Senators and some governors have criticized the style of Magu in the fight against corruption.

“I am going to ‎write to the Federal Government that enough is enough; that either the EFCC does its work or we do a show down with it, said Governor Yari on Thursday.
