After allegedly drinking two bottles of a chemical believed to be Sniper, an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Edo State, Williams Oyibogare, has been dispatched to the Great Beyond.
The operative allegedly took his life in his home without a suicide note.
Oyibogare had just resumed work after his annual vacation.
A colleague who did not want to be identified said Oyibogare was looking pale on resumption of duty from leave.
“He may have died from an illness or it could be suicide.’’
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of his death.
It promised to take the body for autopsy to determine the cause of the death.
“Investigations are ongoing and it would be too soon to make any conclusions at this stage; it is too early to make any pronouncements.
“Of course, there will be an autopsy to know the cause of the death and inquire about what happened,” the spokesman of the command, ASP Chidi Nwabuzor, said.
