Apostle Kassy Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, has declared Afrobeats star Davido unwelcome in the state.

In a viral video obtained by PerSecondNews, Chukwu warned that the singer is barred from performing in Edo for the remainder of Governor Okpebholo’s tenure.

The aide’s warning comes amid the escalating public dispute between Davido and Okpebholo, which erupted after the Edo governor criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, in the build-up to the August 15 governorship election.

Davido subsequently shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s West African Examinations Council result on his Instagram story and later defended the action during an interview, insisting that he had nothing to apologise for.

But Chukwu has now taken the confrontation a step further, warning Davido against returning to Edo for any performance.

“You have been banned from coming to Edo State to perform. We don’t want to see you in Edo again,” the governor’s aide said.

He also claimed that some Edo youths were angry over Davido’s comments and warned that the singer could face a hostile reception if he returned to the state.

Chukwu further warned event organisers and concert promoters against bringing Davido to Edo, saying the singer would not be allowed to perform in the state during the current administration.

PerSecondNews could not confirm  immediately whether the statement constituted an official government position.

The controversy began after Okpebholo travelled to Osun State to campaign for the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the governorship election.

During the campaign, Okpebholo criticised Adeleke, particularly his public dancing, prompting a response from Davido, who was campaigning for his uncle.

Davido later maintained that he would not apologise for sharing the alleged academic record, arguing that he was only showing Osun residents the governor’s results.

The singer also questioned Okpebholo’s decision to leave Edo to campaign in Osun and accused him of attacking his family.
