Nollywood actress Fathia Williams, former wife of actor Saidi Balogun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her mother, which occurred on the eve of her 55th birthday celebration.

The actress, who had planned a low-key birthday party for Sunday, revealed that she was unaware of her mother’s passing until after the event, noting that the painful news was deliberately withheld from her at the time.

Sharing her grief in an emotional message, Fathia disclosed that her birthday fell on Thursday, February 5, but she chose to celebrate days later.

“Dear friends, it was my 55th birthday on Thursday, February 5.However, I chose to have a party yesterday, Sunday. Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me,” she wrote.

The actress described her late mother as the backbone of her life, noting that the full weight of the loss has yet to settle in.

“The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother,” she said.

Fathia added that despite the heartbreak, she is finding comfort in her faith.

“Whilst I have taken solace in Allah (SWT), the Williams’ family has decided to keep things very private for now,” she explained.

She also appealed for prayers and support for her family during the difficult period, saying, “Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings this period. Burial details will be announced later. Thank you.”
