President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday evening met with retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Ibas, who arrived at about 5.54pm, was accompanied by Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance, and Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Ibas’s six-month tenure as administrator ended on September 17, when President Tinubu directed the suspended Governor Sim Fubara and other state officials to return to their positions.
Following the governor’s return, the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, announced its intention to investigate the state’s finances during the six-month emergency period.
The lawmakers plan to examine all expenditures and contracts awarded from the state’s consolidated revenue account.
Ibas, however, has rejected the Assembly’s decision to probe his administration’s financial activities.
According to available records, Rivers State received at least N254.37 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) between March and August 2025, while Ibas was in office.
