Barely 24 hours after announcing that results would be released, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has published the first batch of results for candidates who sat the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the Board, the 632,788 candidates who sat for the examination on Thursday, April 16, can now check their results via SMS.

To do so, they should send a message using the same phone number they used during registration.

The Board clarified, however, that official result printing is not yet available at this stage.

Persecondnews had earlier reported that JAMB would release the results on Friday, April 17, following an announcement by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

JAMB, however, cautioned candidates against manipulating the SMS results, warning that altering or fabricating scores to mislead others constitutes a criminal offence.

The Board disclosed that two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for allegedly falsifying results using artificial intelligence and other electronic means, warning that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.

It further stated that the UTME exercise is ongoing, with more results to be released in batches.
