Vice President Kashim Shettima has disclosed that he was the most demonized person during the last four years of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Shettima, who is also the former governor of Borno State, made this revelation on Thursday at the public unveiling of the book, “OPL 245: Inside Story of the $1.3bn Nigeria Oil Block,” authored by former Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN).
Shettima recounted his experience during the Jonathan administration, saying, “In the last four years of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, I was the most demonized person; I was the public enemy number one.”
He narrated an incident where former President Jonathan considered removing him as the Governor of Borno State, but was opposed by the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
According to Shettima, Aminu Tambuwal, the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, had the courage to tell the President that your Excellency, you don’t have the powers to remove an elected councillor.
Shettima noted that despite this, the President still muted the idea at the Federal Executive Council.
The book unveiling event provided a platform for Shettima to share his experiences and insights about the controversy surrounding the oil block.
