The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has inaugurated the newly constituted governing board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Abuja.

This move underscores the administration’s firm commitment to institutional reforms aimed at enhancing trade facilitation, boosting transparency, and unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.

The event, which took place at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Abuja, on Monday, marks a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to reposition the maritime sector as a driver of national economic development.

According to Oyetola, the Board’s role is pivotal in providing policy direction and supervision, while the Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho and his executive management team are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the NPA.

Oyetola pointed out the importance of maintaining clear boundaries between governance and management, saying, “The Board is to provide policy direction and supervision in line with government directives but must not interfere with routine management or operational execution.”

He also urged the Board members to approach their assignment with discipline, focus, and a firm commitment to national interest.

Persecondnews reports that the Minister congratulated the newly appointed Board members and enjoined the management of the NPA to engage constructively with the Board in a spirit of professionalism, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.

“Institutional harmony is vital, and this can only be achieved through cooperation, transparency, and unwavering dedication to national service,” he said.

The Chairman of the Board, Sen. Adedayo Adeyeye, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him and the other members of the Board.
