Ogun State has showcased its dominance in the Scrabble Doubles Event at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, the state capital, securing gold medals across the Masters, Female, and Opens categories.

In the Masters category, the formidable duo of Oluwatimilehin Doko and Abdulmumin Jimoh clinched gold for Ogun State, topping the leaderboard in Round 14 with an impressive 10½ wins and a cumulative spread of 909.

Similarly, in the Female category, Ogun State’s Adebisi Adekansi and Bukunmi Afolayan earned the gold medal, accumulating 13 wins and 1984 cumulative points.

 

The state’s winning streak continued in the Opens category, where Emmanuel Ogiogio and David Idris secured gold with 11 wins and 3 defeats.

However, Team FCT emerged victorious in the Intermediate Category, with Oguntade Oluwasogo and Friday Ogbonyomo taking home the gold medal after 11 wins and 4 defeats.

In this same category, Team Lagos State and Team Akwa Ibom State secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

As it stands, Team Ogun State leads the medals table with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal.

The competition is set to intensify as the Team Event takes center stage on Monday, leading into the final day on Tuesday, with teams vying for additional medals.
