The ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) party’s ranks in the National Assembly continued to swell as three House of Representatives members from NNPP and PDP defected to the party.
They are Reps Kabiru Usman and Abdullahi Sani elected on the New Nigeria Peoples Party platform in Kano as well as Rep. Oluwole Oke of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read the notices of defection during plenary on Thursday.
The lawmakers, representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya and Karaye/Rogo federal constituencies in Kano, cited the “internal crisis rocking the NNPP” as the reason for their defection.
Similarly, Oke representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in Osun State, formally announced his defection to the APC.
In attendance at the plenary to show solidarity with the defectors was the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
This defection came just eight days after six reps joined APC and two days after Senators Adamu Aliero, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Garba Maidoki, representing Kebbi Central, North, and South respectively, defected from PDP to APC.
