Abuja golf course tragedy: Army General collapses, dies playing golf

Maj.-Gen. Christopher Jemitola, a former Aide-de-Camp to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, tragically passed away on Thursday after collapsing at the IBB Golf Course in Abuja.

Despite swift medical attention, Jemitola was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, Persecondnews gathered from family sources.

The late General was at several times, the Corps Commander, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to Brazil and Director of Army Public Relations.

Jemitola who hailed from Ososo in Akoko Edo Local government area of Edo State served as Obasanjo’s ADC from 2003 to 2007 when he was a colonel.

Until his death, he was the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army.

The Army has yet to issue any official statement about the incident.
