I didn’t marry Sen. Ned Nwoko for material possessions, Regina Daniels breaks silence

Amid lingering controversies surrounding her marriage to Nigerian billionaire and senator, Ned Nwoko, popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has disclosed that her family, including her mother, initially opposed her union with him.

Daniels, who married Nwoko as a teenager, has been a subject of public criticism since their marriage, with some questioning the considerable age gap between them.

In a recent live video, Daniels decided to address the constant scrutiny she has faced over her marriage.

In her revelations, Daniels clarified that her family was initially against her marrying Nwoko, who is much older and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics.

“My mum and family were against my marriage to Ned,” Daniels stated, highlighting that it took significant persuasion for her family to eventually come to terms with her decision.

She emphasized that her mother, Rita Daniels, only agreed to the marriage after recognizing her determination to follow through with her choice.

Contrary to her statements, emerging reports suggest that her mother had known Nwoko prior to his meeting with Regina.

Some sources allege that Rita Daniels had introduced Regina to Nwoko during a political rally.

According to these reports, Regina’s mother allegedly took her to one of Nwoko’s gatherings, where he first took an interest in her and expressed his intentions for marriage.

While Regina maintained that she met Nwoko during a sightseeing trip with a former boyfriend, many have speculated about the true nature of her introduction to the senator.

The actress claimed that she and Nwoko connected over shared interests, which led to the beginning of their relationship.

“I met Ned during a sightseeing trip with one of my then ’boyfriends,’” she said, adding that her affection for him was genuine.

The 22-year-old actress has continued to defend her marriage, stating that her decision was not based on external pressures but rather on a connection she felt with Nwoko.

Although she acknowledges that her choice faced initial resistance from her family, Daniels insisted that it was a personal decision that made her happy.

Daniels’ latest remarks, however, have not easily swayed critics.

Since her marriage to Nwoko, she has been in the spotlight, drawing mixed reactions from the public.

While some applaud her bravery, others have expressed concerns about the significant age difference between the two and questioned the authenticity of their relationship.

Despite the criticism, Daniels has stood firm in her decision, asserting that she has found fulfilment in her marriage.

“People don’t see the other side of him,” she said.

She insisted that the public’s perception does not reflect the true nature of their relationship.

Daniels also responded to claims that she arranged her marriage for monetary or political advantage.

She defended herself by explaining that her life with Nwoko transcends material possessions, stating that her happiness and personal growth within the marriage have been her main focus.
