Raheem Sterling has expressed a preference to leave Chelsea on a permanent basis after it became clear that, at present, he is not part of the club’s plans going forward.
Persecondnews recalls that Chelsea’s squad for the UEFA Conference League play-off against Servette does not include Sterling or Ben Chilwell.
The Blues will travel for the first leg of the tie on Thursday; both players were also dropped in Chelsea’s first Premier League fixture of the campaign against Manchester City.
Sterling trained away from the club on Tuesday and Wednesday after being given a few days off while both parties considered options for a departure from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea Enzo Maresca has stated that Sterling is not part of his plan for this season.
He said: “It’s not late [to tell him]. No, no. Who played the first game as a Wrexham as a winger? George.
“It was a chance to see all of them. It was not two days before. I am not saying Raheem is not a good player. I prefer different kinds of wingers.”
