Sen. John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports, has applauded the Super Eagles for qualifying for the round of 16 at the ongoing AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
Persecondnews reports that the wild dogs of Guinea-Bissau were subdued by the three-time African Champions of Nigeria in a high-octane game in the final group A game in Abidjan.
The Super Eagles, wasteful in the final third and uninspiring in transition, qualified from Group A as runners-up to the round of 16, after Opa Sangante’s own goal in the first half separated both sides in the ties.
Enoh said: “Congratulations to the Super Eagles on your qualification to the next round of 16, having secured a win of 1-0 against Guinea-Bissau on Monday.
“We believe in you to keep doing your very best and bring home the trophy.”Your victory will be a fulcrum of great possibilities for Nigeria and Nigerians.”
