Senate President Godswill Akpabio has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday, November 29 present the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N27.5trn to a joint session of the National Assembly.
Akpabio, who read a letter from Tinubu on the floor of the House during Tuesday’s plenary session, said the presentation will commence by 11.00
a.m.
Persecondnews had earlier reported quoting sources at the nation’s parliament that the president had already written to both the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, on his intention to address the joint session on Wednesday.
Ahead of the budget presentation, President Tinubu, the proposed budget is N1.5 trillion higher, than the initial N26 trillion earlier approved by the FEC before the recent passage of the Medium Term Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Policy document by the National Assembly.
The meeting which was presided over by President Tinubu, also had the medium-term expenditure framework (MTEF) of 2024/2025 earlier passed by the national assembly reviewed by the Council.
Per Second News recalls that the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Mr Atiku Bagudu, speaking after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday, hinted that the details of the budget will be disclosed by President Tinubu at the presentation.
The President is scheduled to travel on Wednesday to Dubai, United Arab Emirates for the COP28 Climate Summit after the budget presentation.
COP28 is also known as the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28).
The world leaders’ summit holds from December 1 to December 2, 2023, with the theme, “Unite, Act, and Deliver.”
