Just in: Arteta wins Arsenal’s 17th community shield

1.2k

Relentless Arsenal wins the Community Shield for the 17th time, the gunners first victory over City was fitting in front of a boisterous crowd inside the Wembley Stadium.

Cole Palmer sublime finished in the 70th minute and was cancelled by Leonardo Trossard 101 minutes’ late equalizer, sending the game into penalties.

Kevin De Bruyne hit the crossbar with spot-kick and Ramsdale stood tall between the sticks to save Rodri’s penalty, before Fabio Vieira converted the winning penalty, giving the gunners the edge in the shoot-out 4-1 to claim first piece of silverware of the season.

Haaland ended the 2022/2023 league season with 36 goals, however, against Arsenal the Norwegian couldn’t find his rhythm as he had zero shots and just 13 touches of the ball before being subbed off in the 62nd minute.

The all conquering Champions of England and Europe have been a class above the other Premier League teams. The big question still remains after bottling the community shield, can the citizens replicate their treble wining in 2022/2023 season.

For Arteta, he will be seeking to correct the wrongs of last season, capitulating towards the end of the season after leading the Premier League for 248 days.

Sweet revenge finally for the gunners, who lost thrice to Pep’s team before the season ended with City beating them home and away in the league.
