National Leadership Crisis: APC Chair, Adamu Resigns?

980

All is not well with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as strong indications emerged on Sunday that the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and the National Secretary, Sen. Iyiola Omisore are being pressured to resign.

The rumored resignations of the duo is coming ahead of this week’s meeting of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

Information that filtered into Persecondnews fingered some leaders of the party as the masterminds of the forced resignation, who had been going about with a list of alleged “sins” committed by Adamu against President Bola Tinubu weeks while he was vying for president in May 2022.

The NEC meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 18, it was gathered, is likely to approve a timetable for a midterm elective convention to fill the positions of Adamu and Omisore.

A party source said: “Consequently, there are some forces within the party who are likely to meet with Adamu on Sunday night or early Monday to pressure him into resigning rather than been shown the exit door.

“As you know, many of the new state governors have not made all their appointments. Even at that, some party officials have been appointed into government.

“At the national level, it is very likely that some national officers or members of the National Working Committee NWC would be appointed into government. Once that is done, there will be vacancies that would be filled through the convention. The convention could also provide a window to get Adamu out.”

Omisore is also not being spared as some aggrieved NWC members have accused him of colluding with Adamu to run the party to the exclusion of others.

The audit report of the party will likely form part of the many “sins” of Adamu.
