Ahead of the commissioning of the $19 billion Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote the President/Chief Executive of Dangote Group, has expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and Federal Government for their assistance in making the Dangote Refinery a reality.
In the video posted on the official twitter page of the Dangote Group on Monday, Dangote also thanked the President-elect for setting the pace with the Lekki-Free Trade Zone.
In addition, Dangote acknowledged the contributions and assistance of past Lagos Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode to the project.
The refinery is regarded as the “game changer” as fuel importation subsidy will soon become a thing of the past.
Persecondnews recalls that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) had said Nigeria spent N4.39 trillion on fuel subsidy in 2022, an average of 400 billion monthly in the fourth quarter report of 2022.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) also said Nigeria spent N1.79 trillion on the importation of petrol and diesel this year.
Dangote said: “What I want to share with Nigeria is to show my personal gratitude and that of Dangote Group, for all the assistance I got from the President and the federal government of Nigeria.
“I want to thank the President-elect for setting the pace by creating the Lekki free trade zone, we want to thank Governor Fashola, Governor Ambode, most especially Governor Sanwo-Olu, because they have given us all the support we needed.”
Persecondnews gathered that the birth of Dangote Refinery will save Nigeria a whopping $10 billion in foreign exchange and generate another $10 billion in export when the facility begins operation in June.
