Grammy Award winner, Burna Boy, has opened up about the musician who influenced his career as a young singer, saying only famous American rapper, DMX shaped his career path.

The Last Last crooner said while many other Nigerian artistes had their music career shaped by African or Nigerian artistes, he was never motivated or influenced by any of them but DMX, whose music really shaped his path.

Speaking further about how he chose music over other things in life, Burna Boy said music was the only thing he could do better while growing up as he failed to do any other thing right.

The singer disclosed this during an interview monitored by Per Seconds News on the Breakfast Club show where he revealed that music was the only thing he got right consistently.

According to him, life for him as a young man influenced his career, adding that seeing all the things that happened to him and how he grew up in such moments was a big influence on the career path he chose.

On his music influence, he stated that from the “younger days, there was no African artiste that influenced him but only DMX.

” But then as I started growing up, I started becoming aware of who I was and my reality.

“The reality that I am an African man, who grew up in Africa and understands his tribe is something; I can’t just throw it away. I am proud of who I am and where I am from,” Burna Boy said.
