Just in: Ekiti Tribunal upholds Oyebanji’s election as governor

Mr Biodun Oyebanji, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was on Thursday confirmed as the governor of Ekiti State by the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ado Ekiti.

The Election which took place on June 18, 2022, saw the former Secretary to the State Government, Oyebanji defeating his closest rival of the SDP, ex-Governor Olusegun Oni.

Oyebanji polled a total of 187,057 votes with his two rivals Olusegun Oni of SDP and Bisi Kolawole of PDP getting 82,211 and 67,457 votes respectively.

Persecondnews recalls that the outcome of the results was challenged at the tribunal by SDP’s Oni, who failed to win his own local government, alleging poll rigging.
