Golden Messi lifts the World Cup for Argentina after 36 years

929

Just like Diego Maradona in 1986, Lionel Messi and Lionel Scolani’s tactics and prowess have won the World Cup for Argentina.

Montriel winning spot kick sent 2.9 million people in Bueno Aires into estacy with Argentina winning their third World Cup.

Persecondnews recalls that they won in 1978,1986 and 2022 after a nerve- wrecking, tension-soaked game which ended in a penalty shoot-out after extra time of about 20 minutes.

France’s lethargic and pragmatic first half performance was punished by a fast paced Argentina team, who were smooth in transition and decisive in the final third.

Kylian Mbappe’s explosive second half, and a world cup final hat trick wasn’t enough to deter Scolani’s team from clinching the title.

Argentina, who won the World Cup with finesse, becomes the first nation to win the golden ball, the golden glove and the the young player of the tournament at the Mundial.

Lionel Scolani earlier said: “I thank my players, because there’s no other word. Any Argentine would say the same. I am already moved.

“They have sincerely given everything and we hope they will be crowned it tomorrow. And if not, then they should be proud of themselves.”

Scolani tactical master-class overwhelmed the French team in the first half with Argentina high press 4-3-1-2 proved too much for Didier Deschamps 4-2-3-1 in the first half.

FIFA player of the tournament, Lionel Messi, scored a brace in the final and also became the first player in World Cup history to score in the Group stages, round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final and final in the same edition of a world cup.

France, who were on the verge of becoming the third team to win the World Cup twice in a row, couldn’t emulate Vitorio Pzzo Italian magnificent team who won the the Mundial in 1934 and 1938.

The samba boys in 1958 and and 1962 inspired by Pele is the only second national team to win back-to-back World Cup final.
