Former Speaker and current member of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, was on Friday sacked from the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
Justice D.U. Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordered Dogara to immediately vacate his seat for defecting from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The judge held that the lawmaker’s defection to the APC was not in order and ordered him to vacate his seat immediately.
Dogara, until the court judgment, represents Bogoro/Dass Federal constituency of Bauchi State in the House.
Persecondnews recalls that Dogara was the Speaker of the House from 2015 to 2019 in the first tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari and was re-elected in the 2019 polls.
Following his defection to APC, the PDP dragged him to court to reclaim the mandate given to the PDP not him.
