The late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu’s children have revealed how their father maltreated and turned her into a punching bag before her demise.

Persecondnews recalls that the 42-year-old artiste, who was a lead singer at the Dunamis International Headquarters, Abuja, died on Friday after spending weeks at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja.

The famed ‘Ekueme’ singer, whose death has generated controversies and outrage on the internet both in Nigeria and globally was initially reported to have died of throat cancer.

However, barely 24 hours after her death, revelations emerged that the late Osinachi did not die from throat cancer, but from the constant abuse, serial beatings she suffered at the hands of her husband, wife beater and killer.

Late Osinachi’s sister, Favour Made, was reported to have also confirmed that her sister died as a result of a cluster of blood in the chest from the kicking she allegedly got from her husband, Peter Nwachukwu.

Corroborating the claims, the late gospel singer’s first son, disclosed that his father would beat up his mother whenever they argued, even when it wasn’t a big issue.

He gave an instance of his father pushing the singer out of the car after a Wednesday church service, forcing her to trek home.

Attesting to the boy’s revelation, one of the deceased’s friends, Ene Ogbe, said the boy told her in confidence that their father told him and his siblings that beating women was good and has become a “sport”.

She further revealed that the deceased’s son told her that his father seized two vehicles owned by the late singer, and told her to use bikes popularly called ‘Okada’.

Recounting her conversation with the late Osinachi’s children, she said: “By God’s grace, I was in our beloved late sister’s house this evening again and l am glad that the police actually arrested him.

“But what baffles me is the way and manner he has polluted the children’s minds!!

“I had a chat with the firstborn, and I almost started crying again. This boy told me the ordeal his mom has been going through with his dad, how he beats her up in any little argument.

“He said aunty, ‘my dad pushed my mom out of the car at night after Wednesday service, and bad boys snatched my mom’s bag that night.

“How mom got home that night I can’t tell because dad left her. People dashed my mom these two cars but dad at times will say my mom should take bike while we go in the car’.

“’My dad told us that beating women is good’.”

“He said they are happy that their dad was arrested because he shouted and beat them up.”

The late Osinachi Nwachukwu’s husband, Peter Nwachukwu, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the singer’s death, by the FCT Police Command.

Confirming his arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh, said:

“He is now in our custody. The younger brother of the deceased reported the matter and we have commenced an investigation.”
