Probe: Publish names of NASS members who benefited from NDDC contracts, Speaker tells Akpabio

Barely 20 hours after the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Godswill Akpabio, alleged that 60 percent of NDDC contracts were given to federal lawmakers, the leadership of the House of Representatives has given him 48 hours to publish the names of beneficiaries.

The Speaker, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, gave the ultimatum on Tuesday in Abuja.

The order came against the backdrop of the sweeping but unsubstantiated allegations by Akpabio, a former senator and Akwa Ibom governor on Monday at the public hearing of the House Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission.

PerSecondnews recalls that Akpabio was grilled for more than two hours over his meddlesomeness and contract awards at NDDC.

As a volte face after an unsuccessful effort to clear himself of allegations leveled against him, Akpabio told the investigative panel that lawmakers were the greatest beneficiaries of the sleazy contract awards by the commission.
